MAWK-1

Caught a bit of a break this week after finishing up storyboarding on set for Ron Howards 'Heart of the Sea'.
Been a really cool experience out there, seeing the sets get build. You feel a different type of connection with the movie I believe. Just gorgeous stuff, looks like its going to be a great film!

So.. after drawing whales and ships for..a bit of time.. I had to get some machines out of the system, while having the time to test some different techniques.
Hope you enjoy!
I should mention this design is heavily influenced by Aaron Beck + Greg Broadmore and their awesome collaboration with BLR on Keloid II Check that stuff out!

Btw if you have an art blog using blogspot, watch out for uploading .jpgs.. looks like blogger messes with the colors. Seems you can avoid this by uploading a .png instead... silly blogspot.

You know, I noticed Beck's influences at all around sci-fi and mechs lovers artists after the Elysium and Keloid II came out.

I'll take that as a compliment. :)
Pretty much since District 9 and Avatar the weta guys have been a massive inspiration to nerds like you and me ;)
